Showed the Jag to a kid on Saturday evening. He was super excited after I texted him and drove an hour to come see it immediately. We poked around a bit and he liked how it sounded and looked. Went to drive it around and... the trans wouldn’t pull the car. After a few seconds we set off with the trans slipping REALLY bad. Re-parked the car and he seemed undeterred and we set up plans for me to come look at his Yamaha XS1100 to trade for it, which I was super excited about, especially since the Miata is starting to smoke out the tailpipe and is using a worrying amount of oil. No knocking yet but the valve stem seals at the very least are completely munched. I’m also moving in two weeks so the Jag has to be gone by then even if I have to scrap it for $200. Fuck.

I regret selling my XJ1100. It was an 82 model year only and I liked it a bit. Just wasn’t ready for a bike that heavy at that time.

Umm where do you live, if you have to consider scraping the Jag I may be able to take it off your hands maybe. I love the thought of V8 Jag.

I love the XS series of bikes, but the 1100 has never really been on my want list because the 750/850 triples are much cooler (IMO) and the 650 is one of the greatest bikes ever made.

Well if it gets down to it and I can convince my wife I NEED this, I can maybe help out. What about other Oppo’s? You should see if there is someone on here who would like it. I am 8-ish hours away but do have a truck and car trailer.

Because we’ve seen it in person. More importantly, we’ve smelled it with the trunk open and heard Jake’s complaints of his feet being cold from the air blowing in the missing floors...

Bummer with all the bad luck you’ve been having with your cars. Hopefully the Jag gets sold and the bike is reliable. Not sure about the Miata other than see if there’s a local junkyard that has one laying about.

I’ll be coming through Kansas in May but it sounds like that’s too late. If it seriously gets to the point of it going to be scrapped... maybe we can find a way to get it to Ohio.

We’ll see. It’s kinda down to the wire. Looks like my crap radiator is leaking coolant into the trans cooler. Going to buy an external trans cooler and slap that on the Jag and flush the trans and hopefully then it’ll move under its own power. Then I just have to find someone to actually buy the stupid thing.
